Carburetor Dung

Have you ever heard of the game broken telephone?? Its when yo have a circle of friends and the first person says a whole phrase and whispers it to the next person and by the time it reach the last person it gets totally distorted?!
I think the exact same thing is happening here. TO start with the name of the band is CarburEtor Dung. Malaysiakini got the spelling wrong in all the hype. Then there was the Malay mail who got the name of the controversial song all wrong. The name of the song was Mari Nyanyi Menjilat (not Mari Belajar Menjilat as Malay Mail called it).
And the antics of the band… Read the bands response to its friends and fans(if they have any left)..
“Friends all, kami semua OK (Alak ada benjol sikit kat dahi). kami perlu berterima kasih pada pemuda-pemuda AMK (Angkatan Pemuda Keadilan - t-shirt biru) yang rata-rata marah tapi masih cuba sedaya-upaya menyelamatkan kami dari segerombolan pemuda-pemuda berbaju merah yang memang ready to rip us apart. With the help of AMK, we all managed to sneak out of the stadium (separately) after about 20 minutes being under siege.
The problem here is our song “Mari Nyanyi Menjilat”. Macam biasa, Alak did his exposing his underwear thing and of course dalam situasi panas tentang “liwat-meliwat” sekarang, aku rasa that gesture was misunderstood by the people there.
Some reports I saw also misquoted the title as “Liwat” instead of “Jilat”, so if some bloggers made the mistake, I’m sure a lot of the people in the stadium misunderstood too. So many took umbrage lah, thinking that we were making fun of Anwar. Actually I even explained to the crowd the gist of the song before we played it.
The thing is aku rasa Alak was in his “auto-pilot” mode. We have been playing that song for a long time and to a lot of people for years already and Alak have always been doing that to heighten the “satire”. The kids in the scene would get the joke all the time but we can’t expect the same from the public. That’s our mistake.
Anyways, apart from the guys in AMK, we also must thank Tom (Skitzofrenia) who shielded Alak from a lot blows, and in the process also got some benjol-benjol. Much thanks to Mad Yus (Apparatus), Poodien, Mirdza (Relationsheep), Black and many more who were there and helped out “
What ever said and done, i feel people should not judge too soon. I’m sure these guys have got a perfect explanation for what happened and come on, you think they be crazy enough to come into a stadium filled with Pakatan Rakyat supporters and insult a leader?? Its a pure miscommunication. As far as the band is concerned….Should have done some homework la dudes!! I know its music but this is a sensitive crowd ,if you remember well, its a crowd of people who are frustrated and sick of the way the country is being run.In simple math, it will !look something like this:
Protesters = Emotionally charged (Bad combo to mess with in my view)
Carburetor Dung is surely going to get much more bad press than support but hey…that’s accountability in a nutshell for you!

Kelana Jaya July 6th Protest-Full Story
This is my full report to the Protest Sejuta Rakyat which was held at the Kelana Jaya stadium today(6th July 2008). I was at Giant Kelana Jaya at 9am meeting some friends from the Pakatan Rakyat Facebook group. We started walking towards the stadium at about 945am.
It was about a 15minutes walk from where we met. Getting there was no drama as we only had to follow the sea of red, if one didn’t know what was happening he/she would think there was a football match between Liverpool and Manchester United at the Kelana Jaya stadium.

As we got closer to the stadium, we could hear the loud cry of REFORMASI ringing in echo style. When we reached the stadium we made our way in greeted by the Hindaf members who were having a session of their own outside the stadium.

DAP office attacked!

The Perak DAP headquarters in Bandar Ipoh Raya was damaged when two unidentified men hurled a petrol bomb at it early this morning.
The incident, which happened at 2.20am, was witnessed by security guard Ammeri Ahmad, 45, who was on duty at a nearby school, and who then called the police.
There were no injuries reported as the building was empty and only two windows were damaged, said Ammeri.
The DAP office is located on the top floor of a two-storey shophouse. On the ground floor is an Indian-Muslim restaurant.
Ammeri said he saw two men throwing something at the windows of the DAP office that caused two loud explosions.
He said when he approached the shophouse the two men took off on a motorcycle.
Perak DAP chairman Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham said the incident appeared to be politically motivated and called on the police to conduct an immediate investigation into the incident.
“It is an attempt to burn the DAP office and is believed to be done by those who have elements of mischief towards the party,” he said after visiting the office.
Ngeh, who is also a senior state executive councillor, said this was the first incident of its type since the formation of the state coalition government after the March general election.
He urged the people to respect the coalition government as it was the people’s choice.
Ipoh deputy police chief Supt Idris Abdullah said police were looking into elements of mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to cause damage.
He said no suspect had been picked up.
Ipoh Fire and Rescue personnel were at the scene after receiving a call at 3am and carried out an inspection.

Hannah Yeoh Accounts

The new politicians are leading by example, after the general elections some of the leaders pledged to provide a clear account of the money received and spent during the elections. Hannah Yeoh , one of my personal favourites has come out with the accounts from her election campaign. You can view the accounts HERE.
Well done Hannah and this is a clear example that its not just talk but actions as well.I hope this carry on for years to come and not just a publicity stunt by those who have obtained their “new power”. All the best Hannah and im sure your going to do great!

Pakatan Rakyat

The leaders of PKR, DAP and PAS have proposed to consolidate their cooperation by forming Pakatan Rakyat.
PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Pakatan Rakyat, to be led collectively by the three parties, would uphold the rights and interests of all Malaysians.
A loose coalition of PKR, DAP and PAS won control of five states – Kedah, Penang, Perak, Selangor and Kelantan – in the March 8 general election. The parties also won 82 of the 222 parliamentary seats at stake.
“We will work towards common principles such as justice, good governance, human rights, accountability and transparency.
“The state governments of Kelantan, Kedah, Penang, Perak and Selangor will also be known as Pakatan Rakyat state governments,” Anwar told a press conference after meeting DAP and PAS leaders yesterday.
Pakatan Rakyat should be interesting and hopefully the rakyat would benefit from this new alliance. There is a facebook group formed for this group which you can join HERE
