To Vote or Not to Vote

Mr. A, Mr. B and Mr. C were having a conversation about the up coming elections.

Mr. A  : Are you going to vote on the 8th?

Mr. B : I don’t think so.

Mr. A : Whylah? Its ok if you never voted before but make sure you vote this year! We need change. Very important.

Mr. B : I don’t knowlah. My area got no suitable candidatelah. I don’t want to vote for Barisan. If there is a PKR or PAS candidate also I don’t want to vote. If DAP candidate, I might considerlah.

Mr. C  : Come on man! What are u thinking? Are you racist or what? There is no way Barisan is going to loose if everyone thinks like you. Go and vote for any opposition candidate. If u keep silent, maintain that forever. Don’t ever complain that the government is no good, the projects are all going to Bumiputra Developers, your son can’t get a place in the private university, your mother can’t get treatment for her illness because hospital bill too high….blah…blah…blah

Mr. B : Yeah….and you know what…..If Barisan wins, they will just continue doing what they have been doing all this while…ie manupulating us to their advantage and try to pacify us whenever things get a bit out of hand! If you question them, the answer is that the majority voted for them and thus they thought that is what the rakyat wanted. This is exactly what our Tun Dr. Mahathir had to say about ISA.

Mr. C  : That’s rite. See what happened to the HINDRAF leaders. They only asked for equal rights but that was offensive and was said to cause instabilty and chaos in the country. What crap!!! This is an educated society. We can no longer subject ourselves to be such fools to not see what is happening around us. BERSIH gathering was all about a fair and just election…but see what happened….. a peaceful gathering was spoilt by the authorities. I wonder who should have actually been arrested or held under the ISA……the authorities or the rakyat who were just trying to safeguard their rights……such an irony………what an undeveloped government!!!

Mr. B : You guys are right. That’s why I don’t want to vote. I don’t like BN’s governance and I am not in favour of PKR and PAS ideologies. So, if I don’t vote I am indirectly showing my displeasure of the candidates rite? Still BN won’t get majority what!

Mr. C  : No. It does not work like that. By you not voting, you are giving room for some abuse to occur. Someone can vote for on your name. If you don’t like the candidates, its ok. Just go to the voting booth and spoil your vote by crossing out all candidates. That way you are exercising your right and there is no room for foul play.

Mr. B : You are rightlah. Never thought of that.

Mr. C  : Its ok. So make sure you go vote k.

Mr.A : Lets make this an historical election. Change is due and it should be welcomed with all the support needed. Lets show the the power of the RAKYAT!!!!!!!
