Should Samy Go?

March 25, 2008 · Filed Under Malaysia, Thoughts

Some leaders recognize that its high time to make way for the younger generations and some simply don’t! There were massive calls for his head before the elections then the impossible happened. The people of Sungai Siput voted out the incumbent Samy Vellu off Sg Siput seat and effectively kicked him out off the government. He may feel that the people of Sg Siput went against him after all that he did for him, but the questions is What did you do Samy? No really!

Our leaders have a tendency of comparing themselves to countries who are light years behind us.That naturally makes them look slightly better but are we that bad? I have got some questions i hope some of you can help me answer :

- What Samy Vellu a mere puppet representing the Indians?

- Does MIC have capable leaders to take over from him?

- Do Indians actually need a body to represent them?

Now, the ministry-less Samy Vellu wants to rebuild MIC together with old nemesis Subra. Do you think he is going to do anything at all now? What is he going to do so differentily to get back the confidence of the voters? Personally, its not damage control or rebuilding when you keep the same people rulling for too long. Its like a cancer…. When one has cancer for a long time, treating it or trying to fix it will only prolonge the painful eventual death!

Cancer needs to be removed and not just removed, totally wiped out! You see if you remove the cancer and dont clean up the cells around the cancer, it will spread again!! The way i see it ,almost imposible right now.

How to fix this?

My thoughts are …Start fresh, we need brilliant, bright people who are more aware of whats happening around the world and not just be “jaguh kampung’s” a politician is no longer on top of the food chain! The people are and we should elect the people who can improve out quality of lives and take us foward as a nation(like we did :) )

Having said that, i prefer a multi ethnic party rather then a race based! Its the future of politics and way of life! As man-kind we demand mutual respect and all to be treated as equals. Anything you benefit has got to be on merit not spoon fed! The revolution in Malaysia has began, and its only going to get better! :)

What you think Samy Vellu should do now? Vote on poll on the sidebar! :)

I personally find that not just Samy have to resign from MIC but I think that MIC need new blood that understood the current situation and needs of an Indian. Not the need of an Indian 40 years ago !!!
But one thing for sure, the Indian have to retain MIC, no matter what we should have one organisation in the ruling party that represent Indian. Reason being because even by having MIC is so hard to get the ruling goverment to do something for Indian, just Imagine without it…. Its a nightmare…

    Abi,

MIC is non-relevant to indian’s, not even to anyone for that matter.

The question on whether or not he should go, I think the Malaysian’s have already showed him the ‘Exit’ door..

Now what can you do if that person simply refuses to go???

The only thing that I remember about Semi Value is toll hike on 1st January. The Indians have far more better personal to choose from like Gobalakrishnan (not the IM savvy) of PKR.

As for me I like Ustaz Mohd Farid Ravi bin Abdullah. You could see him live (Tilawah Interaktif) on RTM1 every Friday and Saturday from 11.30pm-12.30am.

Lets be honest, 34 years at Sungai Siput, what has it become? Nothing but estates.

I know, I was there to race 4×100m inter-school. I asked one of the teachers there if Samy Vellu ever showed at any of their school events, sadly, Samy Vellu is too occupied. But that was 10 years ago, and I bet its still the same.

Hi Sam something to share, I guess its wrong to say that MIC is not relevant to Indian. MIC is definately relevant to the Indian and thats the only channel we have in the ruling party. Just that it was not properly handled or perhaps misused and wrongly guided by the wrong hands before.

Think logically, 5 years ago do you think an Indian would go and vote for “PAS” and do you think right now that the PAS would be more relevant to the Indian compare to MIC. Explained further if you think PAS is relevant to Indian compare to MIC. I dont see the logical here that MIC is not relevant to Indian. It is the only core organisation we had even before the independent day.

Whats screwed it up was the people who led the MIC not the MIC by itself. I am not protecting any parties here, just that I personaly find that MIC will always be relevant to Indian just not sure when is it going to be a usefull tool for Indians.

    Drew,

Race-based politics have been in place for over 50 years now? Look at where it has brought us too..nowhere

What the rakyat wants to see is ‘equality’ at least on the bare minimums , and not being deprived from such basic rights.

It is about time we come out of the race-based sentiments and look forward to a ONE BANGSA MALAYSIA..only then will we see harmony amongst the rakyat.
