Loh Gets Punched and Taib Hits Back

July 19, 2008 · Filed Under In the News, Thoughts · 1 Comment

Its all over the papers today, MP of Kelana Jaya ,Loh Gwo Burne got hit on his face by a personal assistant of Seri Setia assemblyman Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad after a ground-breaking ceremony for a place of worship at Desa Mentari. Residents living in the area had protested against the construction of the building. like every other efficient Pakatan MP, Loh went to the scene to resolve the issue.

Excerpts from the star;

‘Who was responsible for this?’ I must have asked him about 10 times and pointed at him saying that, ‘You as a PA should know’. That was when he punched me in the face above my right eye,”

In my view, its no big deal…At least the politicians and aide’s are beating up each other over a issue that should be resolved and not beating up each other for power or money!!

On a another note,

Former Selangor Menteri Besar, Tan Sri Muhammad Muhammad Taib toke a opportunistic maneuver and hit out at the little drama that unfolded. A separate report from The Star said that The current Selangor Government has lost control. Some interesting points to take out from the report :

“It is clear that Selangor became successful because of the wisdom of its (previous) leaders and its members”

“During Barisan Nasional’s administration, since 1957, there were never incidences about fighting over places of worship.

“We usually resolved everything through a consensus. We allowed churches, temples, mosques and all … but now they have to get physical about it,” he said.

Muhammad added that this shows that the new Government has failed in controlling its people.

“It is clear that Selangor became successful because of the wisdom of its (previous) leaders and its members.

“But now, with the new Government, there are some people fighting for power while some quarters feel inferior about their positions,” said Muhammad

I personally feel that its actually pretty ok for party members to argue and have misunderstanding over such issues as it shows that they are genuinely concerned and doing their job.

Maybe they should have done it behind close doors instead of taking it to the streets.

Latest update by Malaysiakini indicated that a apology has been made by the aide of Nik Azmi and Loh has accepted his apology like a true gentlemen.

On Dato Seri Anwar’s reason arrest,

Muhammad said the real victim was the accuser Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan.

“But now it looks like someone else has become the victim and people do not care about Saiful and his family.

“We should defend him because he was the one who was assaulted,” he said.

Looks like he has already decided that Saiful was the victim ,wonder how he knows??

Education Minister, Datuk Seri Hishammudin Tun Hussein’s son is doing O’ levels and will be going off to the United Kingdom this coming September to further his studies.

Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s daughter, Nooryana Najwa has been accepted into Georgetown University in Washington DC to read politics and international relations after doing her IB (International Baccalaureate).

Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Tun Hussein and Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s children are academically smart. However, it seems like both of them did not sit for SPM.

DSAI to be released by 1pm

July 17, 2008 · Filed Under In the News, Malaysia, Thoughts · Comment

Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s lawyer Sankara Nair told Malaysiakini.

Exceprts from Malaysiakini:

“Sankara told reporters outside the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters where Anwar was held overnight that he talked to an officer in charge of the investigation this morning.

“I received a call from one of the investigation officers and they agreed to grant Anwar police bail,” said Sankara who arrived at the police headquarters at 9am.”

From this report it still isnt clear if he will be released today or charged today. If he is released on bail today, DSAI would have to report back to the police station where the police have the option to procure charges.

Who makes these decisions??

RPK To be Charged

July 17, 2008 · Filed Under In the News, Malaysia, Thoughts · Comment

Malaysiakini reported that homegrown blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin is to be charged with criminal defamation tomorrow - he will have to first report to the Kuala Lumpur contingent police headquarters (IPK) at 10am.

Excerpts from Mkini reported :

Raja Petra said the police had contacted his lawyer J Chandra this morning, for information on how to contact him.

“They did not have my number, so I called them back and was told to report to the ninth floor of the IPK. They also said I would be charged for criminal defamation,” he said.

Asked if he had been expecting this, he replied: “Of course, I am not worried about what is to come, not at all.”

This is one man wih guts! He stands up for his words and is not afraid to face the music. Anwar yesterday, RPK today and who else?

BN’s biggest threats in the political arena is behind bars and the biggest online threat is on his way today. I hope that there are proper grounds for these arrest and the due diligence is done and not politically motivated.

The worlds spot light is on the  Malaysian political scene now and for what its worth, i hope we keep our integrity in place during this episode
