Ugly side of a RM5m beauty
Posted by ari on Nov 21, 2008 in Government • No commentsAfter a long two-year wait that had left many commuters inconvenienced, the much-hyped refurbishment to the Masjid Jamek LRT station plaza — which City Hall officially reopened yesterday — left many very disappointed.
City Hall spent a staggering RM5 million to “beautify” the station, but the very basic amenity commuters have been wanting — a covered walkway to link the Kelana Jaya line and Ampang line stations — was nowhere to be seen.
Work on the plaza started on Nov 1, 2006 and two years later, commuters who have to frequently switch stations at Masjid Jamek are back at square one — getting soaked when it rains! And there were many disgruntled people there during the heavy downpour.
